Railroad and Model Train Clubs
The National Model Railroad Association (NMRA) boasts 17 regions globally with over 150 divisions and sets standards and recommended practices. The members enjoy a members aid program, an achievement program, national and regional conventions and the Kalmbach Memorial Library and other members only perks.
Amherst Railway Society sponsors or hosts many different events from the Railroad Hobby Show, the Northeast Large Scale Train Show, Northeast Railroad Prototype Modelers Meet, and Kids On Track. Members can attend regular meetings that discuss many different railroad topics, they also have Amherst Belt Lines for modular railroad building and shows.
Pioneer Valley Live Steamers is located in Southwick MA and is a private members only club. It is open to the public two times a year and has live steam model trains. They have 2 levels and gauges of track with 1 ground level track being the largest gauge at 7.25 inch gauge and 4580 feet. The elevated track has 2 different gauges one at 3.5 inch and the other at 4.75 inch and combined to be 1140 feet of track.
