The Texas State Railroad has multiple locations and the pin on the map only points to the main location and therefore should not be used for directions. The Texas State Railroad offers 3 main excursions, 2 depart from the Palestine depot and 1 from the Rusk depot. The 2 departing from the Palestine depot – Piney Woods Express Diesel and the Piney Woods Express Steam are a 4 hour round trip to the Rusk depot with a layover for lunch and sightseeing before returning back to the Palestine depot. The third excursion – Rust Turn Table Run is a 90 minute trip to a turn table built in the 1890’s where you get to watch the locomotive be turned around for the return trip. The Railroad also offers many themed excursions including a Dinner train, a Fall Harvest Lunch train, Spooky train, Speakeasy Express and a few wine and beer themed excursions.
